The Company of the Tabard is a federation of enthusiastic heraldic scholars within the Society for Creative Anachronism. The Company is devoted to the study of the heraldic arts and sciences of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, including armorial design, courtly theatre, and diplomacy.

Established in A.S. 5X, the Company is an entirely unofficial group within the SCA, working parallel to the College of Arms without being part of it. Most of our members have served in heraldic office in some capacity, from branch pursuivants to Sovereigns of Arms. Our studies and activities in the Company seek to supplement the work of the College by exploring those aspects of heraldry which fall outside the role of the office. We also hope to kindle an interest in the history and duties of historical heralds, and provide a place where herald personas might thrive.
